8.1
Fast Growing Vines:
Vines which normally produce a number of vigorous runners within one to two years shall be graded or designated according to: age, grade, number and length of runners and other characteristics such as grafted, cuttings, container size and any needed staking.

8.1.1
No. 1 -  Heavy and well branched, with not less than 3 runners 50 cm and up, and vigorous well developed root system.

Examples:
Lonicera japonica ‘Halliana’
Lonicera sempervirens
Parthenocissus quinquefolia ‘Engelmannii’
Polygonum aubertii

8.1.2
No. 2 -  Lighter grade below number 1 standard, 3 runners 30 cm with a well developed root system.

8.2
Medium Growing Vines:  
Woody vines, with a single cane or runner, shall be designated by age and heavy or light foliage grades. eg. Lonicera x heckrottii ‘Goldflame’

8.2.1
No. 1 - Must be heavy and well branched with a vigorous well developed root system, at a minimum length of 30 cm roots and branches.

8.2.2
No. 2 - Lighter grade than the above without serious defects. However, root system must  be in proportion to top, with a minimum length of 25 cm roots and branches.

8.3
Slower Growing Vines:
Woody vines, with a single cane or runner, shall be designated by age and heavy or light foliage grades.

8.3.1
No. 1 - Must be heavy and well branched with a vigorous well developed root system, at a minimum length of 20 cm roots and branches.

8.3.2
No. 2 - Lighter grade than the above without serious defects. However, root system must  be in proportion to top, with a minimum length of 15 cm roots and branches.

8.4
Older Vines:  
Must be designated according to age, heavy or light grades, length of runners and other characteristics, such as standard, grafted, or potted, and if staked.
