CFIA Regulatory Updates

On December 22nd, 2011, a new CFIA policy directive will enter into force that will affect 90 different genera of plants entering Canada from 41 countries; including China, the European Union and areas of the United States.
Implementation of CLHB/ALHB regulations will help to mitigate the impacts of new NAPPRA regulations by USDA.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has requested the assistance of CNLA in making growers aware of two separate issues; one concerning the export to the US of any plants containing bamboo stakes from China, and a separate matter related to the import of Ficus originating in China.
