The Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (CNLA) Certification Committee has worked tirelessly to align industry certification programs with national standards and give them more credibility both within and outside of our industry. The Landscape Industry Certified Program ensures that professionals from across Canada comply with current standards and industry best practices. Certification is available for Technicians, Retail Horticulturists, Designers, and Managers. 


The Landscape Industry Certified Retail Horticulturist (formerly Certified Horticultural Technician) exam is all shined up and ready for show.  Starting this fall the new exam will be available across Canada and will continue to be a combination written and practical evaluation. 
The Landscape Industry Certified Lawn Care Technician exam is the newest exam available to individuals across Canada and the USA. This credential is directly linked to the practice of the profession and reflects what you should already know as a lawn care practitioner.
It has been a great year for the Landscape Industry Certified Program in Canada!
Launched at Landscape Ontario Congress in January, the new Landscape Design Manual has been an instant success.
Beginning in 2010, CNLA and the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) aligned their certification programs under one brand – Landscape Industry Certified.
The Landscape Industry Certified Technician program is designed for employees in the horticulture industry who are involved in the technical application of skill and knowledge.
The Landscape Industry Certified Retail Horticulturist program is designed for employees in the horticulture industry who are involved in the technical application of skill and knowledge.
The Landscape Industry Certified Designer program is designed for ‘true’ landscape designers, with a focus on residential design/build. This certification is earned through a two-part process, first a written evaluation followed by a portfolio review by industry professionals.
The Landscape Industry Certified Manager program is designed for owners and managers of horticulture companies. By focusing on core business skills required to run a successful operation. Candidates earn their designation by successfully completing a series of seven written evaluations.
CNLA offers various types of marketing materials you can use to promote your certification. Recertification is required every two years and can be obtained by attending industry events to obtain your continuing education units (CEUs).
